This kit contains all the ingredients necessary to turn Exile 1.0.5 into Exile 1.1. To find out about what Exile is, how to play it, and how to pay for it, select the file What's New In 1.1. This will tell you all you need to know about what Exile is, and what changes have been made.
If you don't have Exile 1.0.5, this kit won't do you any good. Fortunately, the What's New In Exile file has an order form to order the latest copy of Exile.
Before running the update, there are 3 things you will need to do.
1. Very important - Take your copy of Exile 1.0.5 and your old misc.dat file and put them in the same folder as these instructions. You can bring over the old documentation as well, but leave all the other files behind. They're obsolete.
It is important to bring the misc.dat file, because if you don't then your copy of Exile will become unregistered, and this will be a pain for all concerned.
2. Second, make a backup of Exile v1.0.5 and put it in a safe place. Updates can do odd things. It's best to play it safe.
3. If you have changed the memory requirements of Exile (using More Info, i.e. command - I), you will need to change them to their original settings. Select Exile and hit Command-I. The Minimum and Preferred memory sizes must be 2000 K.
When these things are done, you can begin the update.
Step I:
You need to run the program Exile 1.0.5->1.1 - Part I. Pressing the Run This Step button, below, will do this. This will drop you out of this program and run the program which will modify Exile v1.0.5 so that the patches will run on it. When it is done, you'll need to re-run these directions to run step II.
Note, doing this step will make that copy of Exile 1.0.5 not work until you run the patch.
Remember - these instructions and the program Exile 1.0.5->1.1 - Part I must be in the same folder as Exile v1.0.5. If everything is set, hit the button...
 
Step II:
Now it is time to run the patch. Note that no patch is perfect. There will always be systems and configurations it doesn't work on. If the patch doesn't work, you will need to download a fresh copy of Exile 1.1.
To run the patch, which will turn the modified Exile v1.0.5 into Exile 1.1, press the button below. If the patch runs correctly, you are done and ready to play Exile 1.1!
 
If the patch doesn't work: You will need to download a fresh copy of Exile 1.1. Before doing so, move your misc.dat file to a safe place, and then copy it into the folder with Exile 1.1 when you get it.
Step III:
Change the name of Exile 1.0.5 to Exile 1.1.
When you're finished, this file and all files beginning with Exile 1.0.5->1.1 can be safely deleted. Check out what's new, and have fun!
